Some unique news has arised today with the HTC One X and Evo 4g smartphones. They’ve became the first devices to experience a delay at US Customs due to an Apple patent infringement. Right now they are still being held indefinitely until further notice, and AT&T responds. During the past December Apple actually won a battle against HTC via the International Trade Commission that banned quite a few HTC products. Two of them happened to be these phones , and the ban took place on April 19th, but HTC still failed to fix the phones issues.
Currently the HTC One X is out of stock on AT&Ts website, and also a number of AT&T stores. The phone is of coarse being held, so there is much uncertainty of when stock will be fulfilled. The specific infringement accused by Apple is know as ‘data tapping’. Check Apples 5946647 patent for a surplus of information on the patent.
More specifically, the ITC found found that Androids browser and messaging application infringed on the patent. The Android system would convert phone numbers and emails into a menu with quite a few options.
