‘Catalogs’ Category Added To iOS App-Store

Apple has just added a brand new category to their iOS App-store named  ’Catalogs’ during these past few hours. With the addition just under 24 hours prior to the event it is likely that Apple integrates their ‘Category’ topic into tomorrows Media event. This new category may seem empty when viewed in the App-store, but some applications such as Catalog Spree, Skymall, and MTG Merchant will be listed in the “Catalogs” category on their individual pages.

With the current timing of release its likely that Apple talks about the topic for a few minutes at tomorrows media event. Joaquin Ruiz, the CEO of Catalog Spree even seems to have the same idea: (Via MacRumors)

Ruiz said in an email, “Adding an app category is not something that Apple does lightly and we believe Apple’s decision reflects the importance of this usecase in the Apple App Store ecosystem.”

But we will know for sure within the next 15 hours. Make sure to come back tomorrow for a constant feed of updates on the Widely anticipated Media Event tomorrow.

What type of plans do you believe Apple has with their new “Catalogs” Category?
