The popular French designer Philippe Starck spoke on a radio show this morning and revealed that he was working on a revolutionary product with Apple. He also noted the product would release in around 8 months, which would land weeks before Christmas. We aren’t very aware of any current product that has a December refresh date, so this is likely a project yet to be sold on the market.
A project highly rumored this past year was an Apple television set. Many rumors have pointed to a Q4 release of this television set, which would match up with the December release Starck noted. But more importantly Starck specializes in speaker and headphone design. One notable product of his includes the Parrot Zikmu wireless speaker docking station for the iPhone and iPod. In the manner he spoke regarding the ‘revolutionary’ product, it sure does sound like the Apple would be outing something huge, such as an iTV. Hopefully he isn’t over-exaggerating a new product of his own, such as a speaker.
A french website, Le Figaro , even adds that Starck met with Steve Jobs monthly for seven years. Starck must of been a close friend of Jobs to have the luxury to share his idea’s with Apple. He even noted that he would be heading to Cupertino to meet with Laurene Powell Jobs, Steves Widow, proving he was a close family friend.
