According to a report from TechCrunch, iOS integration with Facebook may be coming soon. Back when iOS 5 was released Twitter was the lone social network added to the operating system. But Twitter may have to make room for Facebook sometime in the future.
A few days ago at the D10 conference Tim Cook was asked about Facebook integration with iOS. He didn’t say very much, but said “stay tuned”. And adding on further TechCrunch said integration with Facebook would happen in “the latest version of iOS.”. The report lacked much in-depth details so we can’t pinpoint exactly how it will work.
Now the two sides appear on the brink of formalizing the relationship. After much speculation, Facebook integration will indeed be baked into the latest version of iOS, we’ve learned.
It’s important to note that Apple being Apple, something could change in the next week and a half (see again: Facebook/Ping). But as of right now, Facebook is a go in iOS “Sundance”.
The last clues of Facebook integration with iOS was way back before the release of iOS 4. The iOS 4 beta actually had Apple had plans to add Facebook sharing functions within iOS. When iOS 4 was finally released the indications disappeared.
Do you think you’l make use of Facebook integration?
