Instagram, the photo editing application that makes anyone look like a professional photographer has just hit their 27 millionth user. Instagram was released as an iOS application for your iPhone,iPod touch, and iPad during October of 2010. It wasn’t long before the application hit one million users, which happened in December of 2010. In September of 2011 Instagram announced they passed 10 million users, so the growth between back then and now is absolutely astonishing.

According to TechCrunch, the co-founder Kevin Systrom disclosed that of the users that used the application last week, 67% of them logged in yesterday. Kevin wouldn’t disclose the percentage of active users, but we have an idea that many of the active users use the application daily.

Also if you have read the rumors, it was estimated that Instagram was valued at around $500 million. It was just last year that the company was estimated to be valued at $25 million.  Since then the application has blown up on all iOS devices and its hard to a iPhone user without this application.

Instagram has also been expected to launch their Android application for some months now. When Systrom was on-stage providing some brief news on the application he also shortly showed off the Android app. The main reason they took this long to create an Android application was because they were focused on scaling their iOS application, according to Systrom.

“In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy,” he noted.

Instagram has experienced some extreme growth in these past 6 months, do you think it will soon slow down?
