The list of competing tablet devices is growing on the iPad. The latest release includes Google’s Nexus 7. For a tablet, I haven’t seen such an anticipated release since the iPad. The stock of the tablet in various stores is low, its actually hard to find a store with stock. This is quite rare, tablets and phones other than Apples usually aren’t in this high of demand.
Google’s Nexus 7 comes equipped with the quad-core Tegra 3 processor. Tests have proven the device to be faster than the iPad, but the graphics aren’t up to par. So maybe now you’re wondering, which has the toughest display? Good question, you will have to watch to find out. I haven’t watched the video yet, but I am going to assume both displays crack, but the Nexus 7 takes on less damage than the iPad.
After the first two tests, including a drop off a table and from the stomach level, the Nexus 7 survived with very few scratches and scuffs. The iPad on the other hand had screen cracks in a few corners. Each drop wasn’t display first, it was on the tablets side.
The next test was into water. When dropped and dunked into the water for the same amount of time, the iPad survived well. Only the loudspeaker sound ability was lost. With the Nexus 7, nothing was affected. From the sound, touch sensibility,to the display, everything worked flawlessly.
So it sounds like the Nexus 7 is the real deal. Apple needs to get on their game and develop a product with quality glass. Its sad that a simple drop from the table to floor can crack your devices display that easily.
Does this make you want to buy a Nexus 7 instead?
