Maps in iOS 6 will feature Yelp check-ins

With iOS 6 comes Apples new maps application. The most intriguing part of maps is the navigation and 3D functionality brought on. Another feature was Yelp, the social network of stores and restaurants in which people write reviews of. Instead of being able to just view the nearby locations and reviews, users will be able to check-in to locations using Yelp straight on the Maps application.

Bloomberg reported Monday citing materials distributed to Apples software developers that users would be able to check-in and post to Yelp without ever leaving the Maps application. The proof was so extensive that software  developers received photo’s of the Yelp check-in’s from the Maps app.

With upcoming features of this sort we could expect Yelp to be a plausible competitor to foursquare’s check-in service. With the power of straight integration with iOS I would imagine Yelp may quickly overpower foursquare even.

Services such as foursquare and Yelp use the iPhones GPS to find your current location and allow you to post to the social network.

Does Yelp Check-in’s interest you; Or does letting everyone know where you are seem out of your interest base, let us know!
