Pod2G Allowing Jailbreak Community To Vote For iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Or Wait For iOS 6

If your hoping for an iOS 5.1 jailbreak than I sure would cast your vote on Pod2g’s bl0g because his most recent poll is asking the jailbreak community whether they would like to see an iOS 5.1 jailbreak or hold off till iOS 6. As of so far, the iOS 5.1 jailbreak is in the lead by a 15 percent margin, 56 to 41 percent to be exact. With over 50,000 votes so far it may seem like an iOS 5.1 release is a wrap, but there is still 6 days left to vote.

As we know, the iOS 5.1 jailbreak would be ready to see a release come within these next 1 to 2 months. All that’s left is for the jailbreak team to package up a program such as Redsn0w, or Absinthe. But the issue is that the hackers have day jobs themselves, and jailbreaking is a hobby of theirs.

There is advantages to both releasing the iOS 5.1 jailbreak and holding of until iOS 6. For one, we all want the iOS 5.1 jailbreak because we could have a jailbroken device within the next few months. While if the jailbreak team held off on a release than Apple wouldn’t have access to the exploits discovered to patch them on iOS 6. This means iOS 6 would be easier to jailbreak, and we could see a jailbreak much quicker than if the iOS 5.1 jailbreak was released.

It sure is a confusing process, but I myself would rather see the hackers hold off because it would save the hackers time, and we would have access to an iOS 6 jailbreak much quicker. And if you ask us, we could see iOS 6 as early as this summer, or the fall.
