Pod2g States ‘Weeks Of Work’ Left On iOS 5.1 Jailbreak

When iOS 5.1 was first released, we were happy to see a few bugs fixed, and the addition to the camera application, but we quickly found Apple had patched the exploit used in iOS 5.0.1 in-order to jailbreak. The A4 jailbreak was released within a day, but we have since have been waiting patiently (some of us) for the upcoming A5 jailbreak. We are assure that when the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s is jailbroken, so will the New iPad, because the chip is essentially the same despite the upgraded GPU.

So, if you remember, three separate exploits were discovered in iOS 5.1 by different hackers. This all took place within the week of the iOS 5.1 release, and since than we are yet to hear more information. The one-bit of information that we have heard though is from our infamous hacker Pod2g. He voiced on his twitter last night regarding the jailbreak, and his tweets made it known weeks of work is still to come.

The tweet timeline starts at the bottom where pod2g makes it clear the jailbreak is not yet released, and he is working hours weekly trying to find vulnerabilities from the exploits. His second tweet explains that there are still many missing pieces to the jailbreak, and once they find them, weeks of work would still exist while a jailbreak tool is created.

So its likely that the jailbreak for the iPhone 4s,iPad 2, and New iPad is atleast one to two months away. I wouldn’t suggest upgrading to iOS 5.1 just yet, but we will tell you when your safe to do so. If your on an older device you can use the jailbreak guide here to jailbreak your A4 device.

Have you upgraded to iOS 5.1 yet?
