SBSettings: Springboard and Notification Center Setting Toggles

SBSettings is a cydia tweak that almost the whole jailbreak population has heard about thus far. For the new jailbreak users, this isn’t quite so. But if you would like to get started with any tweak, I would suggest SBSettings, because this is one legendary tweak, and I am going to explain why.

First off, the most annoying part of iOS is the lack of customization. If I want to toggle my Wi-fi I must exit my current application to simply turn the toggle on/off. Everything on iOS is quite simple, and Apple has always promoted the operating system in that way. A menu in your Notification Center to toggle settings would be much easier, but it seems as if Apple won’t even add a simple settings option for this feature. But if you happen to jailbreak your device, this barrier can be removed. SBSettings is a tweak that can complete tasks such as toggling Wi-fi, 3G, bluetooth, and many others directly from your notification or springboard.

The best part of SBSettings is the range of customizable options, and that’s why this tweak has became popular among the jailbreak community. For one, you can choose whether you would prefer a drop-down menu for your SBSettings toggles, or simply add them to your notification center, and you can even choose both of them! Then your next job is to choose how many toggles you would like presented at once, and you can further toggle the size of the buttons. If this isn’t enough, you can also find free themes on Cydia to customize your toggle menu.

Also, as we stated above you can toggle a variety of your settings on or off using the notification center or drop down menu. In addition the tweak comes with a process task killer, which allows you to delete all running background applications with one-click. You can also shut down,reboot, or respring your device. Respringing is the feature I use the most because its the only means of doing so, that is unless you downloaded a separate tweak.

The picture above is off the SBSettings menu which is using a custom theme from Cydia. The one part I lacked to explain this far is shown near the bottom of the menu above, and that is the Wi-fi information and memory usage information of the device.

Final Thoughts

SBSettings has became one of my favorite Cydia Tweaks of all time. I have been using Sbsettings since iOS 4 and this tweak never fails to fulfill my needs. The default design of SBSettings looks amazing, but with the vast amount of alternatives you are opt to find one perfect for yourself.
