Solid Line Products has just released another case for the iPhone 4 and 4s. This one is called the ‘Slide & Type 2.0′. Well okay, it isn’t really a case, but it does protect the back of your iPhone. The ‘Slide & Type 2.0′ is actually a keyboard for your device that can be slid out like a typical keyboard phone. The keyboard is quite indistinguishable and doesn’t look like an attachment at all.
Features:
The keyboard connects via Bluetooth like any other accessory on the market. When first purchased the connection process is simple, just pop the iPhone into the cases shell, and your good to go. The shell is created using a hard quality plastic, which only comes in black. The protection is very basic, if your iPhone drops screen-first to the ground its likely to crack. The only protection provided is to the backing of the iPhone. The sides of the phone are protected with openings for the volume switch, headphone, power, and charging port. The back camera also has an opening for picture taking, but when the keyboard is opened the camera-view is partially blocked.
The keyboard slides out smoothly on the cases rails. The backing of the keyboard is a dark-grey color, which stands out from the black color featured on the side of the case. The keyboard itself is the typical QWERTY setup, with a few extra buttons such as the .com and www. button. In total there are 50 buttons, and the average size hand/fingers shouldn’t have a problem pressing the buttons. Some of our favorite keys include the home button on the keyboard, and the scrolling arrows allowing scrolling upwards and downwards on the page.
The setup and quality of the keyboard is great. Another notable keyboard for the iPhone is the MiniKey, and this Slide & Type 2.0 in my opinion tops the MiniKey. For one, the keyboard setup looks much nicer. The keys are black with white writing, which looks nicer than the Mini Keys black/white/yellow colors. Not to mention the Slide & Type 2.0 takes up the full allotted space of the keyboard, rather than leaving open space along the sides.
The last feature of the Slide & Type is the stand feature. This is unique to the Slide & Type, and will allow your iPhone to stand at a great viewing angle. This is a great way to view your iPhone in landscape mode, and play a game, but isn’t so great for typing because the top row of keys are blocked by the stand.
Should You Purchase:
Your purchasing decision comes down to whether you prefer typing on a touch screen or a keyboard. The keys are small, but large enough for the average size hands. But if your looking for a keyboard case than the Slide & Type 2.0 is a great choice. My only alternative would be the Minikey, which is essentially as nice.
You can purchase the Slide & Type 2.0 on Solid Line Products official website for $75.00
