If you’ve upgraded your Apple TV second generation to 5.0 than your likely patiently waiting for a jailbreak. Apple began signing 5.0 back on March 7th after the keynote, and it brought the brand new user interface to the home panel. The upgrade surely wasn’t a noteworthy one, and wasn’t worth the upgrade for sure. I would’ve rather kept my jailbreak because quite honestly, I found those features much more useful than a simple user interface upgrade.
So if you are ready to jailbreak, well your in luck! The jailbreak has been noted ‘right around the corner’ according to a tweet by firecore. This is the first bit of progress we’ve seen relating to an Apple TV 2G jailbreak, so we will take it tethered or untethered at this point.
Above is a tweet sent out by the FireCore-Dev-Team from yesterday afternoon. The picture attached presents proof that the Apple TV 2G on 5.0 has been successfully jailbroke. As we stated above, the attached message does say the jailbreak is right around the corner, although this could still mean weeks or even months if the past is any indicator. We can always prepare, and dream about the release date, but if you are still running your jailbreak on a 4.0 firmware I wouldn’t upgrade just yet.
Do you typically jailbreak your Apple TV?
