Two New iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Vulnerabilities Found

Looks like the hackers are on a roll, Pod2g has figured, “2 big vulnerabilities. 1 kernel land and 1 root land” over this past weekend. This goes towards the upcoming iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak which has experienced major progress over these past few weeks. It could be weeks or it could be months before a jailbreak release arises, but this past weekends findings was surely major.

Even with the progress we aren’t to sure whether Pod2g will release a 5.1 jailbreak or wait until iOS 6. He has polled the jailbreak community over this past week and 61 percent of votes were towards an iOS 5.1 jailbreak. But if the jailbreak takes a few months to develop he might as well wait until an iOS 6 release which could be announced during WWDC 2012.

Now, here is the problem. If Pod2g releases a iOS 5.1 jailbreak than Apple will patch the jailbreak in iOS 6. Pod2g would be giving up his hard work to just turn around and do it all over again when iOS 6 is released just months later. Not to mention iOS 5.1 is a small step up from iOS 5.01.

Still there isn’t an estimated release time so we will just have to wait. Pod2g has compared the process to “playing poker” even.
